Hello everyone. As many of you know, I have been running this blog for four years now and while when I started my writing journey, I felt it was necessary to keep both my pen names separate, today, in the interest of time and my own sanity, I have decided to combine Rebecca Hart and R. Brennan’s blogs into one. It just seemed I was spending all my time trying to keep two separate blogs active, when the simple fact is, I dont have the time to do that, or to pretend to be two completely different people.
I had created the second pen name to try to keep fans who enjoyed my fantasy and pirate stories separate from my erotic romance stories, but I have decided you are all capable of determining what sort of stories I have written you are interested in reading, so why not put both sites together?
So, to this end I have done it, and moved the content of this blog over to the Bex Book Nook blog, simply because the name Bex Book Nook applied better to both sides of my personality, where this blog, The Machenwood Chronicles and Other Tales, is pretty specific to my mainstream work.
All this being said, I am here to Beg you all who follow me here to come over to the new blog and sign up for that one instead. http://BexBookNook.wordpress.com
I would love to have you all make the transfer, but I do realize I will lose some of you in the transition. If I do, I just want to say I appreciate you following along with me all of these years though I sincerely hope you come on over to the new digs. I promise to pull up a bean bag chair for you when you arrive.
Now that things appear to be finalized, I am happy to announce that I will be a participating author in ALBACON 2012 being held at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Latham, NY from October 18-21, 2012.
I’ve never been to a CON of this sort before, so I am beyond excited to see what it is all about, and hopefully meet some amazing authors and Sci-fi/Fantasy readers as well. If you were interested in attending, tickets will be available at the door for $40.00 — completely reasonable when you take a look at all the panels, autographing and reading events they are offering visitors.
If you do happen to come, please stop in and say hello. Would love to meet you!
Here is my schedule of events for the convention:
All Day – Writer’s Workshop
8pm – Ice Cream Social (who doesn’t get excited about ice cream?)
11:00am – Panel: Anything Good on TV? — What TV shows are worth watching this year.
1:00pm – Reading: Call of the Sea
3:00pm – Panel: Happily Ever After — Is it true that readers don’t want upbeat stories, or is it just harder to sell them?
4:00pm – Autographing Session (copies of Call of the Sea will be available for purchase at the Flights of Fantasy dealers table)
6:00pm – Panel: Strong female characters who don’t need guns (yes, I call this the Ellie panel:P) — Can a heroine be compassionate and cool?
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to participate in the events on Sunday, as I have other obligations, but I think the above will make for a full Saturday.
What about you guys out there? Have you ever been to a sci-fi or fantasy convention? What did you like about it? Hate? Help a girl out — share your experiences so I don’t worry about what to expect for the next two weeks.
When my book was accepted for publication by Inkspell Publishing, they suggested I have my work officially copyrighted with the government. I hadn’t realized this was even necessary until this publishing foray, but apparently it protects me with a bit more oopmh than a standard copyright notice in the book when it comes out.
Anyway, I must squee, share and wiggle, because the official copyright arrived in yesterday’s mail. Isn’t it just so purty?
I think this just might make it official… My novel is going to be published!!
Happy Friday to Me!!
Because I am in a self promoting sort of mood, I wanted to take a second to shout out my book review blog, Bex Book Nook. I post reviews of all sorts of fiction (from YA to erotica), cover reveals, blog hop stops, giveaways, etc. I also post a bit of my writing as well (erotica stuff over there)
If you don’t already follow it, you should. I will say that my alter ego writes erotica, and while I always make sure all images I post are at worst PG-13, some of the content may be unsuitable for those under the age of 18.
If you are over 18, stop by!
I am so elated to be able to finally announce I have signed a contract to publish my debut novel. My fantasy romance, The Call of the Sea will be published by Inkspell Publishing with a tentative release date of June 2012.
Inkspell is a fledgling publisher, having launched in January of this year, but I am really hoping for good things.
The ink is barely dry on the contract, so I don’t have a ton of information yet, but after having to remain hush-hush about everything for a while now, it feels damned good to be able to shout it from the roof tops.
Wish me luck 😛
